That night Eric went home to find out he was running a little low on voltage and cured the problem. The next day Bowling would once again find his way in the final round after running a total of 17 rounds in one day. Eric was double entered in the $1,000 marathon holding 2 of the final 8 remaining entries. Bowling’s only loss was to himself when he was drawn to run himself in the round of 8. After that Bowling went through the next 2 rounds with .502 and .504 reaction times to take the win on Monday.
The season has only begun for Bowling. “ I hope to continue this momentum into June as we are getting close to my favorite race of the season the Ohio Crankshaft No Box Nationals”.

The season has only begun for Bowling. “ I hope to continue this momentum into June as we are getting close to my favorite race of the season the Ohio Crankshaft No Box Nationals”

6/5/14 – Eric Bowling update – Starting the month of May off at Muncie Dragway Eric Bowling would roll through the competition with an average reaction time of .513 through 7 rounds of competition and hoist the $1200 check at the end of the night . Coming off a great 2012 where Bowling appeared in over 40 final rounds, his 2013 season is no mirror image. Eric has accomplished 13 final round appearances and 8 wins in this finals, Bowling calls it a bit of a slump. “I’ve just been a bit off this season, I can’t quite put my finger on it I’ve just been off” “ I’m winning a ton of rounds just not the ones that count, If I’m .005 dead 1 the driver next to me is .004 dead 0.” Bowling said.

7/27/13 – Eric Bowling Update – It all seemed to start turning around during the Ohio Crankshaft No Box Nationals. Bowling, who has won the event twice started rolling as he would take 2 entries to 12 cars, then what seemed to be his day turned into his worst nightmare. “I let go of the button, turned around to see where my opponent was and then BOOM!” Bowling would lose a motor ruining his bid for a big check. “I gotta give credit to one of my biggest supporters Ohio Crankshaft as they were on hand at this event and Jon came to me and told me if I needed anything at all to just let him know and he could have it to me Monday Morning, even though that didn’t help the matter at hand it’s great knowing I have great sponsors that take care of me even when the results aren’t good” Bowling said. With that being said Bowling had the back up motor waiting on the engine stand with the new rotating assembly that Ohio Crankshaft had already supplied.

The next week and Bowling’s first outing with the new motor Bowling would get to the finals, and it seemed things were beginning to fall into place. Since the engine failure Bowling has made it to 5 final rounds winning 4 of those.

8/27/13 update Since the No Box Nationals Bowling has reached 11 finals winning 9 of them. “It feels good to finally be going rounds” Eric said. “My setup was a little off and we made some minor adjustments and it’s made a huge difference”. Not only did Bowling win the race he dominated with a string of box type reaction times Eric would go .015, .013, .013, .009, .003, .021, and in the final Eric would use his .015 reaction to take the win. “It’s just been one of those seasons.” said Eric, “I will just keep my head down and plug away and hopefully the rest of the season will be like the last few weeks.”

Since the track opened in early April of 2012, he has raced a total of 7 times and has been in the Final 6 of them with a semi final appearance in the other. Eric has won the last 5 weeks in the Pro category. “I know it sounds cliché but none of it would be possible without the support I have from my sponsors”.

Eric also started the season off at Edgewater Sports Park with a win and also opened the season at Lyons Raceway Park with a Super Pro Runner Up. Just 2 weeks ago Bowling went an amazing 22 rounds in one day at Lyons going deep into Super Pro and winning the Pro Category along with Splitting the final of a 32 car shootout. “That was a crazy weekend” Eric said. I put 36 passes on the blazer in 1 weekend. I came away with 2 wins and a Final round split, it was fun but it took a toll on me.

5/30/12 – Attaboy Eric Update Bowling wins big on Memorial Day weekend at the Bernie Mann Memorial Race at Crossroads Dragway. Bowling’s 15th round of Eliminations of the day saw him in the finals of the $4,000 to win no box race. Eric ran dead on his dial to take home the $4,000 top prize! Terre Haute wasn’t the only big score that weekend as he dominated the Brown County Dragway Box/No Box Combo race. Eric’s opportunity to “Sweep” the month of May as he had won every weekend at his local track. With a double entry, he would complete the day with an amazing 1st and 2nd place finish and complete a Brown County sweep in the month of May.
